Fourth of July

We had a quiet Fourth of July at home this year.  London and I made our traditional Fourth of July flag cake for a barbecue we had with Matt, Marianne, Eliza, and Linden that night.  We also made some festive chocolate covered strawberries.  Thanks Jessica Sorensen for this fun idea.

This shot above is blurry, but I had to post because it is so how it goes.  Maddie gets loved on all day long by her sisters.  Brooklyn can't stop squeezing her, and London loves to join in too.  It's a Madison sandwich!
 My festive and silly girls.

There was a huge fire on the mountain in Alpine that started the 3rd of July.  I first saw this fire as I was walking out of Walmart, and I was convinced it was our home.  It was actually a few miles away from us, and it was so scary!  We know people who live right by the mountain and were evacuated immediately.  It was such a fast moving fire, as it has been so dry and windy this summer.  It was our fireworks for the Fourth.  It has been such a bad fire season in Utah that fireworks were banned a lot of places, and we were surprised that they weren't banned in the entire state.  There were several fires burning at this time, and we were all praying for rain.  July 5th the weather forecast included a 20% chance of rain.  We were hopeful.  We woke up to cloudy skies, and it started to rain.  It rained pretty much all day.  It rained hard at times, but mostly a steady drizzle throughout the day.  As we drove toward the Alpine mountain that night we saw this...
No more fire, rain everywhere, and beautiful double rainbows.  Steve said the rainbows was Heavenly Father's way of telling us "you're welcome".  We were so thankful for an answer to our prayers.
